The first Business Before Hours in 2012 had a good turnout despite the rain and  the cold morning. About 20 people were at The Mint Hill Barber Shop when the event began at 7 am. Coffee flowed freely along with fresh fruit, cheese biscuits, muffins, scones and cookies from next door neighbor, Daphne’s Simply Southern Bakery.
It was a good time to network with Chamber members, Tim Ledford, Chief of the Mint Hill Police, and Stephen Smith of the Mint Hill Lion’s Club, as well as others. This is exactly why these events were created, said Executive Administrator Sandy Barnett.
“I’m very proud to plan these events as they give our business members the chance to network and interact on a regular basis with others in this community.”
This type of event has been going on for the last five years.╩
“About five years ago, the Chamber evolved from the Mint Hill Business Association to a Chamber of Commerce due to the diligent work of former director, Jack Bryan,” Barnett said.╩“I started working with him in 2006 and with board member, Rohn Waldrep. We realized that we needed to add these events to increase our value as an organization.”
Barnett said she researched the idea with other Chambers of Commerce.╩That was how the Business Before Hours, Business After Hours and Monthly Luncheons with Speakers were born.╩ “This year, we have also expanded into more ribbon cuttings and grand openings which we plan for members at no additional costs.”╩
Barnette said as the Chamber heads into 2012 with a new board, she predicts that there will be new ideas and events to benefit Mint Hill businesses.╩
