A fire began in the Sizzling Wok Restaurant in the Mint Hill Shopping Center last Tuesday morning. The Mint Hill Volunteer Fire Department responded and people from the other stores in the center were evacuated. The fire was not as serious as it could have been, according to a MHVFD spokesperson, because of the fire suppression system in the building. At press time, the gas lines were being shut off and the Health Inspector was making a decision about whther or not to let people return to the building. The fire is under investigation by the Mecklenburg County Fire Marshall’s Office.
