There may be new hope for the mall in Mint Hill. The Howard Hughes Corporation, based in Dallas, Texas has partnered with Childress Klein Properties to look at development possibilities for The Bridges at Mint Hill.
Construction of The Bridges at Mint Hill began in 2008. It had several problems with layout and environmental aspects. It was delayed again as the economy began to falter but the project has always been on the backburner, according to Childress Klein.
The property is located at the intersection of I-485 and Lawyers Road. The parcel is approximately 210 acres, 120 which are considered developable. It is currently zoned for more than one million square feet of retail, hotel and commercial development.
The original plan had included a greenway from the Park on Fairview through the Bridges of Mint Hill and up to the Stevens Nature Preserve.
Plans for the mall may be different now with new developers.
The Howard Hughes Corporation’s properties include master planned communities and shopping malls in 14 states.
