Madness in Mint Hill this weekend

Mint Hill TimesThere is so much going on at Mint Hill Madness this year that no one can experience it all. The fun is doing as much as you can in the time that you have. You’ll be exhausted afterward but you’ll have the time of your life. What’s new this year? Corn hole, all weekend karaoke, speed pitch, free video games and a steel drum band. There is the patriot joust, EricTreese, magician, Nationwide car show and Show us your Smile. And that’s just the beginning. There is live entertainment and rides all weekend, arts, crafts, unbelievable food. Don’t forget about the parade, fireworks, beauty pageant, petting zoo, dog show, pony rides and cruise-in. Check out the Mint Hill Madness Facebook page before you go. You can view potential singers who are being chosen at YouTube. The winner will sing the National Anthem. Maybe it’s not too late for you to enter the contest. Wear your comfortable shoes, bring some cash, a sweaterčmaybe an umbrella, there was some rain last year. Plan not to miss a thing. You’ll thank yourself later. Driving Road Closing Information- Hwy. 51 (Matthews Mint Hill Road) will be closed from Lawyers Road to Cresthill Dr. starting Friday, September 23 at 10 am until Saturday, September 24 at 11 pm. The intersection of Lawyer’s Road and Hwy. 51 as well as portions of Lawyer’s Road will be closed intermittently on Saturday between 8:15 am – 11 am for the Lion’s Club 5K and the Mint Hill Madness parade. Parking Vendors and the public are welcome to park behind the Town of Mint Hill through an access drive on Lawyers Road. Signage will be in place for the weekend. There will also be a free shuttle service running from the Mint Hill Medical Office Building on 10545 Blair Road on Friday from 7 pm-10 pm and Saturday from 2 pm- 10 pm.

  1. I’m a little annoyed that they moved Mint Hill Madness from the park, but I guess the town is striving to be more like Matthews. My big question/concern is, what happened to the plans to build a dog park? So many people in our community would love to have a place to let our pups go leash free. I know that it was in the works for a while…but I haven’t heard anything about it lately. Has the Korean War Memorial overshadowed it? Are we going to get a dog park? From a concerned dog lover in Jefferson Colony.
