The Moody Brothers, long time Mint Hill residents, were nominated for a Dove award for work they did on a song performed by George Hamilton IV. The song, I’m Using My Bible for a Roadmap, is a nominee for the 2011 GMA Dove Awards Bluegrass Song of the Year. Hamilton had some stellar backup musicians on the record including bluegrass legend Del McCoury. The track is from the critically acclaimed duets album by Hamilton and produced in Ireland and Nashville by Colin Elliott and Dave Moody.

Much of the album’s basic tracks were first recorded in Ireland, with many of the guest artists recording their vocals at Kingswood Studios in Nashville.  The nominated track features Hamilton and McCoury’s duet vocals, with producer Moody on acoustic guitar, bass and mandolin, along with his brother Trent Moody on twin fiddles.   The album was then compiled and completed in Ireland by Elliott before being released in the US by Lamon and in Ireland by Elliott’s label.

The 2011 Dove Awards will be held at the historic Fox Theatre in Atlanta on April 20th, 2011, marking the first time the Awards will be held outside the state of Tennessee. The show will broadcast on the Gospel Music Channel on Easter Sunday.  For a complete list of this year’s nominees, visit the Gospel Music Association.
