Yesterday, the Town of Mint Hill, with help from the Mayor’s Library Committee, hosted a lunch for the Mint Hill library staff and volunteers. Here’s some pictures from that event.

Gingerbread House winners announced

Darryl, Kristin and Olivia Parker won first place in the Group Category.

The First Gingerbread House Competition was held last week as part of the Matthews Hometown Holiday Celebration. Fourteen houses were constructed for the contest and the plan is to have this competition next year.

Adult Category Winners: 1st- Sylvia Serdula; Second – Kate Krajewski.

Child Category Winners: 1st – Maria and Sarah Wood; 2nd – Joe Krajewski; 3rd – a tie between Jessica Adams and Claudia Alferd.

Group Category Winners: 1st – Darryl, Kristin and Olivia Parker; 2nd – Janean Flowe and Family; 3rd – Jackie Krajewski and family.

First place winners received $75; 2nd place $50 and 3rd place $25. The houses are on display at the Matthews Chamber of Commerce and the Matthews Public Library. The competition was sponsored by the Matthews Alive Foundation and the Town of Matthews.
