The Matthews Police Department and local Oasis Shriners recently partnered together to hold a golf tournament to raise funds for the DARE Program. The Matthews Police Department is only one of two departments in Mecklenburg County who have DARE Programs.

This year more than 1,200 fifth and seventh grade students attending school in Matthews will benefit from the DARE Program. More than $6,000 was collected from the golf tournament and will be used by Matthews Police Officers for DARE program activities.
