The Mint Hill Police Department hosted a DWI checkpoint in the 11400 block of Albemarle Road on Saturday night between 11 pm and 2:30 am. This was a joint operation involving CMPD, Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office, Matthews PD, Pineville PD, Cornelius PD and Marshville PD. Two DWI arrests were made. There were multiple other charges including 33 No Operators License, 7 Driving on a Revoked License, two misdemeanor drug charges, two child restraint charges, and 18 other traffic related charges. A total of 25 officers were involved in the event.
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Library system has had budget woes for the past couple of years, resulting in library closings and reduced hours. It also meant that towns around Mecklenburg County, including Mint Hill, have had to pitch in funds to help keep branches open. Now the library is looking for more revenue by raising everything from overdue fines to the cost of black and white copies.
