Mecklenburg County tax bills will soon be in the mail

From County staff: The Mecklenburg County Tax Collector will mail tax bills to approximately 379,300 property owners and mortgage companies on August 25, 2010.
Tax bills are mailed directly to the owner of the property as of Jan. 1, 2010 or the mortgage company that requested the bill for property owners with tax escrow accounts. Property owners who escrow their property taxes with a mortgage company will receive a property tax notification from the Tax Collector. These owners should review the notice carefully to ensure the bill was sent to the correct mortgage company. Continue reading


What’s hanging in Matthews?

Many people have commented on the planters and hanging baskets in Downtown Matthews and have asked for the names of the plants. Below is a listing of the plants sent out by the town that are in the planters and hanging baskets this summer. This is the 10th year the Town has had the planters and the 4th year they have installed the baskets.

In the photo: Diamond Frost, Yellow Potato Vine, Red Dragon Wing Begonia and White Penta. Ten hanging baskets have: White Cleome, Blue Scaevola, Purple Heart Wandering Jew and Walk-a-bout Lysimachia. Two hanging baskets located in shady areas have: Voo Doo Mix Impatiens, Green Ivy and Aarron Caladiums.


Christian LeMay era ends at Butler

[singlepic id=138 w=320 h=240 float=center]The Butler Bulldogs will be without its much heralded quarterback this season. Stacy LeMay, father of Christian, sent a press release to media organizations Monday night declaring their intentions of foregoing his senior season and instead concentrating on attending the University of Georgia.
