It should be no surprise to our readers that The Mint Hill Times has been a proponent of the charter school concept. We have argued many times in editorials and guest columns that removing the arbitrary cap on charter schools in North Carolina would benefit not only the charter schools, but regular public funded schools as well. State Sen. Eddie Goodall, the outgoing senator who represents the Mint Hill area and who is the President of the NC Alliance for Charter Schools, posted this link about five myths about charter schools. North Carolina teachers and administrators associations are adamantly against charter schools because it threatens the power of those organizations. But charter schools are public schools as well. Why should they be treated differently than the regular, government run schools?
