Ezell Farms park meeting tonight

Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation will host an Ezell Farm Steering Committee Meeting on Tonight, June 7th at 6:00 pm in the Assembly Room at the Mint Hill Town Hall to further discuss the athletic field provisions denoted on the Ezell Farm Master Plan.

Myrick Releases Final Parts Of Economic Video Series

The office of US Representative Sue Myrick (NC-09) today released the final segments of her economic video series featuring esteemed economist and professor at the R.H. Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland, Dr. Peter Morici.

In the third segment, Rep. Myrick and Dr. Morici talk about what steps need to be taken to solidify our banking system.  In the fourth and final segment, they discuss the role government should have in home ownership.


Another big lottery winner from Mint Hill

For the second week in a row, someone from Mint Hill won big-time cash from the NC Lottery. Vernon Graham Mint Hill won $76,465 in the January 28 “Carolina Cash 5” drawing. He purchased his ticket from the Petro Express at 421 Tyvola Rd., Charlotte


Harrisburg honors fallen soldier; Mint Hill will do the same Saturday

Area Harrisburg residents turned out yesterday to honor Chris Barton, a member of the 101st who was killed in Afghanistan May 24. Barton’s body was flown in from Dover Air Force Base to Concord Airport yesterday. The funeral will be held in Mint Hill on Saturday. Mint Hill Mayor Ted Biggers has asked residents to line Matthews-Mint Hill Road tomorrow at 11:30 am as the funeral procession goes from McEwen Funeral Home to Idlewild Road and then Idlewild Road Baptist Church. According to the Indpendent-Tribune, hundreds lined the streets in Harrisburg yesterday. Barton’s family was grateful.

“It was overwhelming,” said Roy Schmiedeshoff, Chris’ father. “I knew they were doing something, but I didn’t know it was going to be this big.
