Mint Hill Police Department collects more than 14,000 pills

The Mint Hill Police Department participated in Operation Medicine Drop last week and successfully collected more than 14,000 pills.  The police department received many positive comments and encouraging feedback from citizens of Mecklenburg County about this initiative.  Due to the outpouring of support, the Mint Hill Police Department is planning to hold medicine drop offs at least twice per year.  The next date is tentatively set for the last weekend in September at the Mint Hill Madness Festival.
The Mint Hill Police Department would like to extend thanks to the following locations for the usage of their space and their support:
Philadelphia Presbyterian Church
Blair Road United Methodist Church
Walgreens on Lawyers Road
The statewide collection numbers are not yet available, but NC Safe Kids will be releasing that information as soon as possible.  For more details you can visit www.ncsafekids.org.
The pills collected were removed from their original packaging before destruction.
