Matthews Police were able to track down an armed robbery suspect on Saturday. Moritz Alexander Huber was arrested after robbing at knife point the Rite Aid on John Street and then fleeing on foot. Here’s the press release from the Matthews Police Department:
On Saturday, February 6, 2010 at approximately 2:45 PM, a white male entered the Rite Aid pharmacy located at 630 W. John St. He went to the front cashier and began to make a purchase. When the cash drawer opened the subject jumped the counter and threatened the clerk with a knife. The suspect took money from the register and left the store on foot.
Officers in the area were able to locate the suspect a short distance from the store and an attempt was made to detain him. The suspect fled on foot, but was arrested by assisting officers behind a nearby apartment building. The money was recovered and the suspect was positively identified as Moritz Alexander Huber (W/M d.o.b. 06/19/1990) of Monroe. Huber was charged with Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon and is currently in the Mecklenburg County Jail under a $6,000.00 secured bond.
