An information session for nonprofit organizations interested in applying for County grant funding for fiscal year 2011 will take place Monday, February 15, 2010. Staff members from the Mecklenburg County Manager’s Office will host the free session from 10 a.m. to noon in room 267 of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Government Center at 600 E. Fourth St., Charlotte.

Each year during the annual budget process, the Board of County Commissioners provides funding through the Community Service Grants process (formerly known as the Outside Agency funding process) to nonprofits that serve Mecklenburg residents. To be eligible to apply for funding, a nonprofit must:
Serve the residents of Mecklenburg County
Have a 501(c)3 nonprofit classification with the IRS
Have independently audited financial statements
Agree not to discriminate against any employee, applicant or program participant because of race, religion, color, sex, age, handicap, physical or mental impairment, disabilities or natural origin.
During the FY2010 budget year, Mecklenburg County awarded more than $5 million to nonprofit organizations. Applications for FY2011 funding will be available online at following the information session. Completed funding applications must be submitted to the County Manager’s Office by 5 p.m. on March 19, 2010, in order to be considered for funding.

Parking is available in the parking deck at Fourth Street and Davidson Street.
