Last week, the Mint Hill Times ran an editorial explaining how North Carolina could miss out on millions of dollars in federal funds for education because of its opposition to charter schools. The Obama administration is handing out Race to the Top funds to states which show the most innovative ways of improving education. Tops on the list: The promotion of charter schools, something Gov. Bev Perdue is against. Seems North Carolina isn’t the only state that should be worried about losing federal funds because of its opposition to charter schools. New York has its own problems.
