Every December during Birthday Blessings holiday parties at area homeless shelters, needy children and families are treated to family photos, which are taken, printed, and provided as gifts in frames or frame craft kits that the children create. But this year, that annual party
tradition will become part of something much bigger. On December 12, photographers around the world will share their skills and give back to those who are less fortunate as a part of the Help-Portrait movement started by celebrity photographer Jeremy Cowart, and the greater Charlotte area is no exception. Heathfield hands out holiday awards

Heathfield, located in Mint Hill, kicked off the 2009 holiday season with a variety of festivities. Residents enjoyed a Greeting Card workshop, an exterior Decorating Contest and even a Holiday Tour of Homes where neighbors opened their homes to show off their Christmas decorations. Decorating Contest winners are: Best Decorated Mailbox (Mike & Lisa Teti); Best Decorated Front Entrance (Rich & Holly Lunn); Best Outdoor Lighting (David & Rhonda Hornbacher) and Best Holiday Spirit (George & Helene Mueller). The neighborhood also participated in the USMC’s Toys for Tots program.
