Rep. Sue Myrick released a statement yesterday on Saturday’s U.S. House vote to overhaul the health care system in the U.S. Myrick calls it a “government takeover” of healthcare, while the Dems say it will help to insure most of the millions without coverage, and not allow insurance companies to deny coverage to people with pre-existing conditions. The Senate will most likely vote in the next two weeks on its bill, and then the House and Senate will get together to craft a single bill which need to be voted on again by both bodies. The North Carolina High School Athletic Association released its playoff brackets this afternoon. Butler is seeded No. 1, while Independence has a tough road seeded No. 6.
In a jammed pack stadium and chilly night, the Butler Bulldogs did something they have never done: Beat a Tom Knotts led Independence team at the Patriots Stadium, 31-24.
