The town of Mint Hill held its 10th annual Veteran’s Appreciation Day Breakfast Saturday at the Kerr Building at Philadelphia Presbyterian Church. More than 280 veterans showed up for the breakfast. The Colors were posted by Independence High School JROTC, and in addition to patriotic songs, music was provided by Mint Hill bluegrass legend Dwight Moody. Presentations were given by organizers of the Armed Forces Museum and Archives of the Carolinas and the Korean War Veteran’s Association Memorial, both of which will be located at The Park on Fairview in Mint Hill. The town spends about $500 a year for the breakfast, and boys and girls scouts, town staff and Mint Hill commissioners and mayor volunteer to served the veterans.
