Meet the candidates for Mint Hill mayor, commissioners and District 6 School Board tonight

Picture 2The Mint Hill Women’s Club will host a Candidate’s Forum on tonight at the McEwen Room, Mint Hill Town Hall. The event begins at 7 pm with four-five minute remarks by the candidates, followed by light refreshments and then a question and answer with the candidates. Attendees will be given forms to record their questions for a specific candidate during the first part of the program and questions will be organized and read after the break.
The following candidates have agreed to attend the forum: For Mint Hill mayor: Ted Biggers and Larry Bumgarner; For Mint Hill Board of Commissioners, five of the seven candidates will attend: Lloyd Austin, Mickey Ellington, Adam Kaplan, Brenda McRae and Tina Ross; for Board of Education: Terri Dickinson, Tim Morgan and John Ross.

Mint Hill Police Department receives $147,000 traffic safety grant

The Governor’ Highway Safety Program (GHSP) presented the Mint Hill Police Department with a Traffic Safety Grant valued at $147,985 on October 1. These funds will be used to hire two Traffic Safety Officers and purchase equipment for the project to include two Patrol Vehicles, Mobile Data Computers, RADAR and In-Car Digital Camera System.
