Celebrate Labor Day with food, fun and lots of entertainment – with all of the proceeds going to non-profits in the Matthews community. This is the 17th year for the four day event. Presbyterian Hospital Matthews is the title sponsor of the event.

The event begins at 6:30 pm on Friday, September 4 and continues until 5 pm on Monday, September 7. The event features activities for every person – no matter your age.

Admission is free with proceeds from rides, food sales and other activities going to non-profits. Last year the festival donated $90,000 to area non-profits.

The infamous General Johnson & the Chairman of the Board will kick off the festival Friday, Sept. 4 at 8:30 pm in Stumptown Park.

The event includes the largest Labor Day Parade in the southeast. The parade is from 10 am – 12 noon on Saturday, September 5. The parade will travel down Trade Street.

Throughout the weekend attendees can view a quilt show, basket show and an art show.

Sunday’s musical entertainment features gospel and Praise Bands.

Other highlights of the festival magicians, jugglers, a ventriloquist, clowns, the Kazoo Guy, storytellers, belly dancers and much more.

Monday’s events include the Kiwanis Run and the Matthews Auto & Motorcycle Classic Show.
