A new Civitan Luncheon club is forming in Matthews. Club organizers invite community residents to attend organizational meetings held at Beantown Tavern. The club meets on Wednesdays from 12 till 1 pm. Once the club becomes officially chartered, the meetings will change to twice a month.

Civitan is a worldwide organization of everyday citizens who want to make a difference in their community. Members enjoy personal and professional development opportunities while focusing on helping others. Civitan’s major emphasis is to help people with development disabilities. Civitan funds the Civitan International Research Center, a developmental disability research and treatment facility located at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

Local clubs are also involved in a variety of community service projects based on the needs of their communities. The Matthews Civitan Club has already committed to assisting Habitat for Humanity, Matthews.

Civitans are known around the world for being a diverse organization that welcomes everyone of all age groups. We invite you to join us as we work to make an impact on the Matthews Community.
