Fire damages home in Matthews
A house was heavily damaged by fire Saturday afternoon around 4 pm in Matthews. The house is located at 2535 Sam Newell Road. When firefighters arrived flames could be seen burning through the roof. Two firefighters were treated at the scene for heat-related issues. No other injuries were reported.
Matthews Fire & EMS Department was assisted by Idlewild Volunteer Fire Department and the Charlotte Fire Department.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
