Thursday is Ingersoll's birthday.

The Lady Blues, an 18U team softball travel team made up of area players, finished 10th out of 88 teams in the Georgia Fire Dynamites Tournament in Columbia last week. Butler’s Chelsea Ingersoll hit over .400 of the tournament playing catcher and third base. In the final day of competition the team played back to back games from 8:30 am to 10:30 pm. Ingersoll went 2-3 with a double and an RBI in the win of the evening over a team from Alexander Central area. Ingersoll’s dad, Mike, estimated there were 25 college scouts at the tournament.

Ingersoll got a bit of revenge when the Lady Blues beat the travel team from Alexander Central. Many of the players on that team play for the AC high school team that stopped Butler’s two-year win streak last season, and then knocked the Lady Bulldogs out of the state tournament.

Constance Orr, who won three state titles with Butler and currently plays for UNC, is also a member of the team.
Ingersoll led Butler last season in many offensive categories including batting average, RBI, slugging percentage, on base percentage, hits and
doubles. She is a rising senior at Butler with a 4.37 GPA and is a member of National Honor Society. Last season she was SW4A All Conference – 1st team
SW4A  Catcher of the Year, won the Butler Bulldog “slugger” award, the NCHSCA District 6 – All District Team and NCHSCA All State Team.
Ingersoll’s brother, Mike, currently plays football at UNC.
The Lady Blues go to Boulder, Co for an Independence Day tournament the weekend of July 4. Their goal this summer is
to  win the ASA National Championship which will be held in Las Vegas.
