On February 28 the National Federation of Music Clubs Piano Festival was held in Charlotte.  Seventy students from Charlotte Academy of Music participated in the Festival at CPCC. Students prepared two memorized musical selections each, one of which was from the required list published by the NFMC, and were evaluated by local professional musicians.  Many students also took the music theory exam on the same day.

At the NFMC Piano Festival each of the Charlotte Academy of Music students scored one of the top two ratings given, “Excellent” or “Superior.”  Sixty four of these students earned the highest rating of “Superior.”  Academy teachers Heather Brunner, Connie Beach, Rita Mabes, Manana Restiano and Regina Ziliani entered piano students in the Festival.

The NFMC Piano Festival is an annual event held nationwide each February. Students are rated on areas of musicianship including rhythm, technique, accuracy, interpretation, memorization, and musicianship.
