The Butler Lady Bulldogs were upset by West Charlotte in the semifinals of the state 4A basketball tournament in Greensboro last weekend. The loss ends the most successful run ever by a basketball team at Butler. Despite the early exit from the tournament, the Lady Bulldogs can at least take solace in having four players voted to the All SW4A Conference team, including Celeste Stewart who won player of the year. Coach Stephanie Butler was named coach of the year. On boys side, A.J. Evans was named to the All Conference team.
For Independence, Jessica Blair was named to the All Conference team.
