The 2009 Special Olympics World Winter Games concluded on February 13 in Boise, Idaho, ending nine days of international competition among more than 3,000 Special Olympics athletes, according to Keith L. Fishburne, Special Olympics North Carolina president/CEO.    Four athletes from North Carolina competed as members of Special Olympics Team USA.

In Figure Skating 
Caitlyn Belk of Mecklenburg County came in fifth place in singles and David Wilches, also of Mecklenburg County, came in fourth place in figure skating singles. Also from North Carolina:
