Symone Stukes won the National Poetry Out Loud District Competition last Sunday, February 1 at Imaginon. Symone will advance to the State competition in Raleigh. If she wins in Raleigh, she’ll proceed to the finals in Washington, DC for the big bucks ($50,000 in scholarship money). James-Charles Antoine, school 2nd place winner, didn’t win but represented Independence well!
