The following local students were named to the dean’s list at the Savannah College of Art and Design in Savannah, Ga., for fall quarter 2008. James Koo of Mint Hill (28227) is a graphic design major and is seeking a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree; Andrew Dicharry of Indian Trail (28079) is a broadcast design major and is seeking a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree; Erik Olson of Matthews (28104) is an undecided major and is seeking a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree; Stephen Venezia of Matthews (28105) is an undecided major and is seeking a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. Full-time undergraduate students who earn a grade point average of 3.5 or above for the quarter receive recognition on the dean’s list.
In today’s Mint Hill Times there is an article about Mint Hill’s maneuvering to collect stimulus money–if it comes available. Here is a complete list of the projects the Metropolitan Union Mecklenburg Planning Organization will submit to the state DOT. Mint Hill is seeking funds for a sidewalk which will run along Wilgrove-Mint Hill Road from Highway 51 to Nelson Road. Also on the list is a resurfacing and widening project of Highway 218 from Interstate 485 to Anson County.

The Mint Hill Police Department and the FBI Charlotte Safe Streets Task Force are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying and locating the individual who recently robbed the First Citizens Bank located
at 6930 Matthews Mint Hill Road, Mint Hill, North Carolina ( NC). On January 28, 2009, at approximately 1:16 p.m., a lone male entered the bank and approached one of the tellers brandishing a handgun. After
demanding and receiving an undisclosed amount of money from the teller, the suspect exited the bank and fled the area in a small, silver automobile.
