The Mint Hill Chargers are National Champs again! On Friday they defeated the Monroe (CT) Lions 20-8 in Orlando Florida. It was the culmination of what was a tough week as the team traveled to Orlando last Saturday and had to win three games in five days. In game one, they defeated the Bedford (NH) Jaguars 20-14. In game two, they defeated the Osceola (FL) Panthers 32-14.
Many of the kids on this team were also on the 12U team last year that won the AYF Jr Midget National Championship.
22 of the 24 kids on this team go to either Mint Hill Middle or Northeast Middle. The other two kids live on the edge of Union County. This is truly a Mint Hill team. Continue reading

From the Mint Hill police:

On Friday, December 12, 2008 at around 10 pm, Mint Hill Police Officers responded to Tienda El Amigo located at 4709, Suite 112, Margaret Wallace Road in reference to an armed robbery.  Officers spoke with an employee who stated he closed the store.  Upon exiting the store a Hispanic male with a dark hoodie pointed a gun at his head.  The Hispanic male demanded the employee to go back inside the store and give him all the money.  The Hispanic male then told the employee to lay down. The Hispanic male then proceeded to duck tape the employees wrists behind his back and his ankles together.  Approximately five minutes later the employee heard the business door open and another unknown male came into the business and watched the employee while the other Hispanic male looked throughout the store.
