Butler JROTC to honor veterans

The Butler High School Army JROTC Battalion and the Matthews American Legion Post 235 are hosting a Veterans’ Day ceremony to honor U.S. Veterans on Tuesday, November 11. The event will take place[singlepic=320,180,100,,right] in Stumptown Park, South Trade Street in Matthews. The Butler H.S. JROTC Battalion along with JROTC units from Sun Valley, Providence, and East Mecklenburg high schools will honor each branch of the United States Armed Forces and with Post 235 pay tribute to veterans from World War II to the present. The ceremonies which begin at 11 am will also include a special memorial to SGT Joshua Blaney, U.S. Army. SGT Blaney, a graduate of Butler High School, was killed in action while serving our country in Afghanistan.
