CMS students outperform international peers in math

A new report released Thursday shows that students in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools outperform students from most other nations in mathematics. The analysis, conducted by the American Institute for Research (AIR), shows that students in only five of the 24 comparison countries did better than CMS students in fourth grade and only nine of the 43 comparison countries did better in eighth grade.

Lines long today at polling places

Experts have said there could be 65 percent turnout this election season but judging from the lines today in Mint Hill, they might be on the low end of the estimate. This photo was taken at 12:30 at town hall, where the line to vote ran in front of the building and cars lined the entrance way.

Weather-woman visits Clear Creek

Metorologist Daniella Lopez of channel WCNC visited Clear Creek Elementary on [singlepic=307,320,240,,left]October 29th. She talked to the students about different aspects of weather and water conservation. Mrs. Lopez showed a video of herself on television as she presented the weather and discussed the many requirements of her job. She also talked about how severe weather is formed and how people can protect themselves from storms. Students asked many Mrs. Lopez many questions about weather and and her career.
