The state of CMS

Superintendent Peter Gorman will give his State of the Schools address Thursday at 8 am at the Duke Energy building in downtown Charlotte. From the CMS press release:

CMS students will join Dr. Gorman and members of the Board of Education for this report on the state of the schools. The event will highlight CMS students and their achievements, with speeches from Board Chairman “Coach” Joe White and Dr. Gorman and several performances by students in and around the program.

The student performances should be fun, but we wonder if CMS will give bad news along with the feel-good news in the state of the schools address. For example, what’s the deal with exaggerating the number of students eligible for free or reduced lunches?
