[singlepic=80,80,160,,left]Patriot Nation won’t take the show to Florida this week because tropical storm Hanna looms in the Atlantic and threatens the Southeast. Independence was scheduled to play Madison County High, the reigning Florida 2A champion. Head coach Tom Knotts said when the trip was announced the Patriots looked forward to playing Madison County, and the team always look for a challenge.
The Patriots have a bye this week, and their next game is in two weeks at West Charlotte. This was the second straight year the Patriots scheduled an out-of-state opponent. Independence lost 41-34 to Cincinnati Elder in overtime last season.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools will monitor the weather throughout the week and announce if any schedule changes are necessary. The tropical storm could bring another soggy Friday to the area. The clouds opened and dumped buckets of water on the field after the Patriots won 47-0 over Olympic.
