Recent NC poll has McCain, Obama tied; Dole with slight lead

Fire spotted during Big I fire drill

No one was hurt when an oven caught fire at Independence High School during a 9:15 am fire drill, reports WSOC-TV. The oven is in a classroom once used for home economics. A teacher spotted the smoke as students and teachers headed outside for fire drill. The fire was quickly extinguished.

Two-thirds in NC support domestic drilling

[singlepic=166,220,140,,center]That’s what an Elon University poll found as reported by the Charlotte Business Journal. Further, 79 percent feel domestic oil and gas should be kept at home. Those aren’t surprising numbers; what is surprising is that Congress has still not passed domestic oil drilling legislation.
