Fire spotted during Big I fire drill

No one was hurt when an oven caught fire at Independence High School during a 9:15 am fire drill, reports WSOC-TV. The oven is in a classroom once used for home economics. A teacher spotted the smoke as students and teachers headed outside for fire drill. The fire was quickly extinguished.

Two-thirds in NC support domestic drilling

Those aren’t surprising numbers; what is surprising is that Congress has still not passed domestic oil drilling legislation.

Lebanon Elementary reaches for ‘whirled’ peace

Students made pinwheels to express their feelings on world events as part of Pinwheels for Peace events today and tomorrow. The pinwheels are part of International Peace Day, held September 21 every year.
