The Charlotte Business Journal is reporting that North Carolina has the lowest mortgage closing costs in the country. The average in NC on a $200,000 mortgage is $2,650; New York has the highest closing costs at $4,000. The national average has risen 14 percent since 2007 and stands at $3,118.
