In May, the Mint Hill Times profiled Jay Brosnan, a retired military man who lives with his wife off Lebanon Road. Brosnan was preparing for a cross country bicycle ride from Washington state to Maine over the summer, his second cross country ride since 2001. But this one did not go as smooth as his first. Shortly into the trip his riding partner, Jim Avey, who he met on the 2001 ride, suffered a heart attack and passed away. Brosnan continued his ride—it is what Jim would have wanted—but 44 days in to the journey he was forced to cut the trip short at the Mississippi River. Read about his amazing story in Thursday’s Mint Hill Times. Brosnan also has an amazing blog of his trip plus many more great pictures.
