The scales of justice could currently be tipped in favor of Mecklenburg County criminals.

The Mecklenburg County justice system is broken according to a report by the by the Justice and Public Safety Task Force. Task force co-chairman Harry Nurkin cited billboards at the North Carolina and South Carolina border stating The Palmetto State is tougher on crime than The Tar Heel State.

The task force spoke with two judges and a state senator Wednesday about Mecklenburg’s justice system, and it plans to speak with crime victims before making any recommendations to the county commission.

This could be one reason why some cops in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is losing faith in the courts.
