Bain Elementary School to be replaced?

Bain Elementary School may not be renovated after all. At last night’s school board meeting, the idea was proposed to replace the existing building with a new one. Pineville Elementary will also be replaced instead of renovated. Guy Chamberlain, associate superintendent for auxiliary services, described the changes to the Board at its Aug. 12 meeting: “Both the Bain and Pineville renovation projects would be multi-phased and probably last about 30 months,” Chamberlain said. “We would have students directly adjacent to a construction area and, as each new phase commenced, students would be moved. If we just built new facilities, they’re not in such a disruptive environment. Given the favorable construction costs we have seen in the last year, it makes fiscal sense to do this.”
