Mint Hill Police need your help catching a thief

Dollar General on Lawyers Road, August 4, 2008:

This guy walks past the store office, sees a phone cord stuck in the safe door, grabs the cash, and walks out. His partner, and probable lookout, buys something to distract the clerk so the thief can exit. (Notice that the lookout guy has to borrow money from the thief.)
Mint Hill Police say the two guys took advantage of a frazzled new employee at Dollar General and they probably scoped the place out beforehand.

Eastland mall cuts hours

The ice rink is now closed at Eastland Mall.

The ice rink is now closed at Eastland Mall.

The saga of Eastland Mall continues. Today, it was announced operating hours were being cut for the interior section owned by Glimcher Realty Trust. The venerable white box mall will be open from 11 am to 7 pm on weekdays and from 10 am to 5 pm on Saturdays. The interior stores will be closed Sundays. The three anchor stores, Dillard’s, Sears and Burlington Coat Factory will not be affected and will keep current hours.

In yesterday’s Mint Hill Times, we reported Dillard’s had already closed. The store was supposed to close this month, but officials decided to postpone the closing for one more month.
