Hernandez charity softball tournament

A charity softball tournament at Frank Liske Park in Concord starts August 4 to raise money for Greg Hernandez’s family. He was killed April 11. The event features a silent auction and raffle, and the proceeds will be donated to the Hernandez’s wife Marla and her four children.

TV’s Extreme Makeover near MH today

Speaking of demolishing existing structures to build something new and improved (see town hall post) Ty and company from Extreme Makeover are going to demolish a house on Sudbury Court (near Eastland Mall) today and rebuild it in seven days. Meanwhile, the King family, owners of the house, will vacation in Puerto Rico for the week.

Robbie Tucker, RIP

Independence High School rising senior Robbie Tucker, who was killed Thursday when struck by a car while walking home from a friend’s house, was buried today.

On Friday, two of Robbie’s friends,  Sydney Leibert (left) and Jessica Burkett painted the Big I rock in front of the school to pay tribute.
